Design in 2D. Create in 3D.
Master graphic design, digital illustration, 3D modeling, and product visualization — then bring your designs to life with 3D printing and fabrication.
What You'll Do
In the Digital Design & 3D Creation Lab, students explore the full spectrum of visual creation — from flat graphics to physical objects.
Students learn foundational design principles like composition, color theory, and typography before applying them to real projects using industry-standard software. As skills develop, they move into 3D modeling, learning to create objects in digital space and then fabricate them using 3D printers.
The lab bridges the gap between screen and physical world. Students see their digital designs become real, tangible objects they can hold, share, and add to their portfolios.
Design Thinking in Action
Every project in this lab follows a design thinking framework that mirrors how professionals work.
Empathize & Define
Understand the audience, the problem, or the purpose behind the design. Define clear goals before putting pen to screen.
Ideate & Sketch
Generate multiple concepts through sketching and brainstorming. Explore possibilities before committing to a direction.
Prototype & Create
Build the design using digital tools — or bring it into physical form with 3D printing. Turn ideas into artifacts.
Test & Refine
Gather feedback, evaluate the design against its goals, and iterate. Professional design is never one-and-done.
Skills You'll Build
- Graphic design fundamentals (composition, color, typography)
- Digital illustration and visual storytelling
- 3D modeling and sculpting for screen and print
- 3D printing workflow (design, slice, print, finish)
- Product mockup and packaging design
- Industry-standard creative software proficiency
- Design critique and iterative improvement
- Portfolio development and presentation
Projects You'll Create
Tangible design work that builds real skills and fills real portfolios.
3D Model
Design a 3D object from scratch using modeling software — a character, a product, a piece of architecture, or a functional tool. Learn spatial thinking and digital sculpting along the way.
Product Mockup
Create a complete product concept including branding, packaging, and visual identity. Practice the design process professionals use to bring products from idea to market.
Printable Design
Take a digital design all the way to a 3D-printed physical object. Students learn the full pipeline from digital file to finished product, including print preparation and post-processing.
Who It's For
The Digital Design & 3D Creation Lab is open to all youth regardless of prior experience. Whether a student has never opened a design application or already has a sketchbook full of ideas, our mentors meet each participant where they are and help them grow.
Programs are available for elementary, middle, and high school students, with projects and tools adapted for each age group.
No Experience Required
You do not need any background in art, design, or technology to join this lab. Every program starts with the fundamentals and builds progressively. All computers, software, and 3D printing equipment are provided on-site. Trained mentors guide every session, helping students develop their creative voice with confidence.
Safety & Inclusion
Supervised & Supportive
Trained mentors are present during every session. 3D printers and fabrication equipment are operated only under direct supervision with clear safety protocols.
ADA Accessible & Sensory-Friendly
Our S.T.E.A.M. & Esports Center is a single 88,000 sq ft building — fully ADA accessible with sensory-friendly rooms and quiet spaces available for any student who needs them. Every program is equally valued and every young person belongs.
Inclusive by Design
Every student is welcomed, respected, and supported. Our lab culture is built on encouragement, collaboration, and the belief that every young person belongs here.
